Date Smarter, Not Harder

Dr. Maciel grew up in a large family in Southern California, sparking his lifelong interest in family dynamics and relationships. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Southern California in 2000 and began teaching in elementary schools across Southern California. 

Driven by a desire to expand his expertise, Dr. Maciel went on to complete a PhD in Counseling from Loma Linda University in 2009. He also earned a Masters in Business Administration in 2014. With extensive experience in couples and family therapy, premarital counseling, motivational speaking, and business, Dr. Maciel brings a diverse skill set to his work. 

Bethany was born and raised on a farm in Indiana as the middle daughter with a strong drive to succeed. Her creative passion led her to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Photojournalism at Ball State University. 

Later, she earned an MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University. With a diverse background in the business world, Bethany now works in Human Resources, holding her SHRM-CP certification.

Separated by 2,000 miles, they relied on the support and encouragement of friends and family while sifting through countless profiles. 

Ultimately, fate brought them together, leading to 14 years of marriage, three beloved dogs, and a wonderful daughter. Today, the Maciel family calls Southern California home and love spending time with family at the beach or in the nearby mountains.
